National Injury Prevention Day

Today is National Injury Prevention Day! This day is led by Parachute Canada on the same day each year. They are a charity that looks to make Canada safer" by preventing serious and fatal injuries through evidence-based solutions that advocate and educate." They focus on 3 key areas where people are accidentally injured: at home, play, and on the move. Although they focus on these 3 factors, we also want to shed some light on the importance of workplace safety.

At Acart we are committed to creating a safe environment and it is expected that all of our employees are dedicated to the continuing objective of reducing workplace and work-related injury. In our workplace we are backed by the WSIB (Workplace Safety and Insurance Board), which provides wage-loss benefits, medical coverage and support that helps people get back to work after a work related injury. Workplace safety is important to us and it's crucial that our employees are informed of the proper steps to take in case of a injury occurring at work.

Here are a few key safety precautions that you should keep in mind:

  1. Be aware of your surroundings
  2. Know where the fire extinguisher and first aid kits are located
  3. Make sure the equipment mentioned above are up to date
  4. Wear the proper gear based on your surroundings
  5. Ask for help if you don't feel safe in your workplace
